Fr Patrick Malone was born in Arderry, Aughagower, Westport, Mayo in 1895. He was a noted poet, photographer and filmmaker. Ordained in New York in 1925 he ministered in China for twenty years before serving in America. He retired to Ireland and lived around Westport, Connemara and Clonbur, Co. Galway, where he died in 1979.

Noreen Malone Tunney outlines Fr Malone's life, ministry and filmmaking especially Lovely Ireland, a film portraying life in the west of Ireland in the 1950s and 60s. The book also contains Fr Malone's poetry which he wanted published after his death. He is buried in his native Aughagower alongisde his parents.
